I have always believed that all people have a “success seed” within them… When I discover them, I point them out to those individuals. Then I fertilize those seeds with encouragement and water them with opportunity. -- John C. Maxwell |

Information and Updates from Midyear Conference
Despite the winter storm blanketing the area, three Division 10 Kiwanis members attended the Nebraska-Iowa District Midyear Conference in Council Bluffs Saturday, February 4. Lt. Governor Rodney Horrigan from Brooklyn, District Foundation Division Trustee Linda Dodd Smith from Marshalltown (Noon), and Immediate Past President Steve Smith from Marshalltown P.M. Kiwanis clubs participated in the daylong event.
Both Marshalltown and Marshalltown P.M. clubs were recognized as 2010-11 Distinguished Clubs. Noon officers were Aaron Lee, president, and Linda Dodd Smith, secretary. P.M. officers were Steve Smith, president, and Ted Kallestad, secretary. Linda also was honored as an Outstanding Club Secretary and received the District’s club brochure sweepstakes award.
The Marshalltown Matins Kiwanis Club won top inter-club honors among the eight clubs in Division 10 based on their visits to other clubs and Kiwanis events.
Due to the weather problems, there wasn't the required quorum of clubs present to hold a trustee election for three of the six Regions, including Region 6, which covers Divisions 9, 10, 14, and 15. In the near future a meeting is planned in/around Williamsburg for the purpose of electing the Region 6 trustee. The candidates are Tim McGee of Chariton, Iowa, and Geoff Northridge of Fairfield, Iowa. Club officers are asked to watch their email in-boxes for information.
The service project of the Nebraska-Iowa District Governor's Spouse, Bob Dunaway, was announced at the closing session of the Midyear Conference. He is urging all clubs to contact their local food pantries and donate needed food and personal items for children 0 to 5 years of age and to track and report those donations by weight. |
